Halifax doughnut shop opens up the street from competition

Fortune Doughnut, the second shop to open in Halifax this year, has their oven pumping from their 2306 Gottingen Street shop. Vandal Doughnuts reopened after a year-long absence at 2150 Gottingen Street in February where 244 Snack Bar was located.

P.E.I. pizza shop doles out free slices to celebrate opening
Pizza and Donair Hub opened their third Island location in Cornwall on Saturday, April 14. To celebrate, owners Deepanshu Garg and Dharminder Shergill shelled out free slices of pizza from noon to 4 p.m. Like the other two locations in Charlottetown and Borden-Carleton, Pizza and Donair Hub will offer delivery and take out options for their pizza, donairs and wings.

N.B. pot producer expands to 650 employees
Organigram, the N.B. licensed cannabis producer, has announced they are now employing more than 650 people, up more than 500 since 2017 when it opened its plant with 100 employees. The announcement came along with the new appointments of strategy and operations consultant James Cavanaugh to chief of staff, Matt Rogers to plant manager and Tina Shannon to director of human resources.

Expansion announced for MUN marine institute in Holyrood
In a press conference in Holyrood, N.L. on Thursday, April 12, the federal, provincial and municipal governments announced the expansion of MUN’s Fisheries and Marine Institute. The $8.5-million investment will go towards the construction of a new mobilization and launch base for ocean researchers and ocean tech companies, as well as dry labs, classrooms and office space.
