Listed: Ten SaltWire properties up for sale

Over the next month, SaltWiire-owned properties will go up for sale. The company, which owns 35 newspapers across Atlantic Canada, says they are selling off vacant properties or buildings that are too large for current daily operations and states no jobs will be lost due to the building sales. The properties for sale are as follows:

• 88 College Street, Antigonish
• 255 George Street, Sydney
• 6 Louise Street, Truro
• 2 Second Street, Yarmouth
• 165 Prince Street, Charlottetown
• 400 Topsail Road, St. John’s
• 106 West Street, Corner Brook
• 164 Water Street, Shelburne
• 352 East River Road, New Glasgow
• 10-12 North Street, St. Anthony

Cooke teams up with Martha Stewart on new seafood line
Cooke Aquaculture has announced their partnership with lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart on a line of seafood products. Under the True North Seafood sales arm, the company will be releasing a line of seafood paired up with Martha Stewart signature butter flavour or spice blend, like Atlantic salmon with lemon herb butter or Sockeye salmon with miso butter, along with a Stewart recipe next month.

Anaconda goes for gold at #DisruptMining finals
Newfoundland and Labrador company Anaconda Mining made it to the finals of #DisruptMining for the second year in a row. The live finals, which aired on March 3 from Vancouver, featured pitches by three finalists (chosen out of almost 100 companies from around the world) in the competition for mining startups vying for the $1-million-investment from GoldCorp Inc. Austrian company ANDRITZ took home top prize after pitching their vision to the panel of judges.

Zenabis to hire 200 for N.B. cannabis packaging facility
B.C.-based Zenabis Global held a job fair in Campbellton, New Brunswick last week as part of their plan for hiring more than 200 employees by July 1 of this year. The company, which has distribution relationships with several provincial governments including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, is looking to fill positions in production and packaging at their facility.

Payless to close all stores across Canada
Payless ShoeSource has announced the closure of all 248 stores across Canada after filing bankruptcy in the U.S.There are 20 Payless stores across Atlantic Canada, which means dozens of jobs lots, like Summerside P.E.I., one of the Island’s two stores, which will leave five people without work by the end of March.
