Summer is here and so are the new restaurants! There were almost no closures this month, but coffee ships and creameries abound.

What’s Open

Quintal Cafe | Bonavista, NL
A heritage home in Bonavista, N.L. is now home to The Quintal Cafe which opened on June 1 at 63 Church Street. It serves up coffee and pastries along with breakfast, soup and sandwiches.

La Place | Dieppe, NB
Dieppe’s newest coworking space opened on June 3 at 200 Champlain Street, suite 210. La Place offers an array of office space options from hourly rates at their hot desks to monthly rentals of private offices.

A Bite of Beijing | Fredericton, NB
A Bite of Beijing started serving their traditional Chinese dishes and pastries like Jambing (Chinese crepes), fried noodles and egg tarts on June 6 at 621 King Street.

Sine Coffee Labs | Halifax, NS
Startups who work out of Volta labs got a jolt of caffeine with the opening of Sine Coffee Labs on June 10. Located on the lobby level of the Maritime Centre (1505 Barrington Street), the owners of Cortado Tasting Room in Bedford opened Sine, which offers a variety of speciality coffees like drip and pour-over, along with smoothies, pastries and sandwiches.

Cherry on Top Creamery | Souris, PEI
This ice cream shop opened on June 11 at 120 Main Street. Cherry on Top offers espresso drinks, milkshakes topped with crazy toppings and floats, along with their ice cream selection.

Fork | Mobile, NL
This pop-up restaurant that used to operate out of the Irish Loop Coffee House in Witless Bay has grown into their own space at 52 Cod Seine Cove Road in Mobile. Fork opened up on June 19 and offer up small and large plates of beautifully-plated dishes.

Booza Emessa | Halifax, NS
This Syrian-style ice cream shop, which opened at 819 Bedford Highway on June 19, is the first of its kind in the country. Ice cream-maker Samer Aljokhadar arrived in Canada four years ago as a refugee with the dream of opening his own shop, which features the thicker ice cream rolled with nuts and pistachios characteristic of Syrian ice cream.

Dildo Brewing Co. | St. John’s, NL
The Dildo Brewing Company opened up a new retail shop at 332 Water Street in downtown St. John’s on June 21. The brewery is now selling merchandise like t-shirts and baseball caps along with a selection of their brews in cans and on tap for growlers refills.

Julep Kitchen & Cocktails | Halifax, NS
This eatery started service on June 12 at 1688 Barrington Street. Julep Kitchen & Cocktails focuses on small plates, seafood and cocktails.

What’s Shut

Pacifico | Halifax, NS
After 25 years, this famed dance bar closed their doors underneath the Maritime Centre on June 1.

9Round | Moncton, NB
This 30-minute kickboxing workout centre at 1688 Mountain Road announced its permanent closure via a Facebook post on June 16.
